Choosing a setting for Melissa & Gonçalo’s engagement session was a breeze, as was this chilly spring day in Asbury Park, NJ. The colder weather was unexpected, but we wouldn’t let that stop us. We spent golden hour shooting some photos and videos along the Asbury Park boardwalk. We then changed their look for some awesome images we took at the newly built The Asbury Hotel.Read More
I sometimes enjoy a challenge on my photo sessions and weddings. Shooting in an environment that is different from the norm or that has loads of people is almost never the easiest task. But it is, however, much more interesting this way and can help make wedding photography feel much less repetitive.
Suzana & Aaron requested to have their photo session earlier this April. The timing was borderline perfect, as they were looking to get some cherry blossom scenery at Branch Brook Park. That weekend was the first on the calendar for the beginning bloom of spring.
Below are just a few favorites of mine. We spent all of golden hour and dusk at the park, making for the most beautiful light. At dusk, I brought out my strobe (flash) and shot some dramatic, grandiose images in front of the pond.
Hundreds of thousands of photographs have been shot at this park over many years. I did my best to make it look different and to tell Suzy and Aaron’s own, personal love story. I hope you enjoy these.
Photographers/Aspiring photographers: feel free to reach out to learn more about my process behind this session. I’d love to chat! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Winter weddings can sometimes be difficult to shoot for a photography and film making team. Besides the potential for frigid conditions in the New York City and New Jersey areas, the amount of available light during the day is barely manageable (unless you’re an expert of lighting, of course).
